Jewelry Boxes

Jewelry boxes  are a great way to start organizing your collection. There are designs for everyone, from cute pink ones for little girls to luxurious leather ones for their moms.

Pros:

  • Look fantastic on a dresser or nightstand; since so many styles are available, you can find one (or several!) to match your decor.
  • Provide ample room for storing a wide variety of jewelry in a compact package.
  • Often have a built-in mirror to make it easier to put on your baubles.

Cons:

  • No expandability. When your collection grows, you'll have to buy a bigger box.

Travel Organizers

Travel organizers  are usually one of two types. They can be tiny versions of a jewelry box that hold just a few pieces, or they can be folding organizer with individual pockets for several items. The best type really depends on your needs. If you wear a lot of big jewelry, a larger folding case would probably suit you better. If you only plan to bring a few smaller items, a miniature case is a good bet.

If you are looking for a general storage case as well as a travel case, look for a set that comes with both. Sometimes the travel wallet lifts right out from the larger jewelry box, so you can use it for storage or travel.

Pearl Storage

Pearl jewelry  has its own special set of needs. It can be kept in a regular jewelry organizer as long as it is lined with velvet and the pearls do not come in contact with other pieces of jewelry. However, to give you pearls the best treatment, it's best to keep them separate from everything else (and each other).

  • Wrap the pearls in a soft cloth or put them in a cloth pouch
  • Allow them to lie horizontally; never hang a pearl necklace from a hook.
  • Pearls are soft, porous, and delicate; keep them away from hard metal jewelry.
  • Don't put on your pearls until after you've applied makeup, hairspray, and perfume.
  • After wearing your pearls, give them a wipe with a soft microfiber cloth before putting them away again.

Wall Mountable & Free Standing Holders

Looking for more couter top space and a little extra room decor? Well, here's how you can kill two birds with one stone...

Pros:

  • Jewelry holders  that you can mount on your wall are nice because not only do they make room for more counter top space, but with all the unique designs to choose from they can accent your room.
  • Free standing jewelry holders are great because they come in such extraordinary designs
  • Both are great for keeping earrings, bracelets, and necklaces seperate and untangled.

Cons:

  • Free standing holders do not hold much jewelry.

Organizer Trays

Another option for keeping your jewelry easy to access is a set of organizer trays Many companies make modular trays that can be stacked together to save space.

Pros:

  • Lets you choose exactly which kinds of trays you need for your specific collection.
  • Expandable systems grow with your jewelry collection.
  • Can be hidden in a drawer more easily than a dedicated jewelry box.
  • Can also be used for other kinds of storage if you decide to consolidate your jewelry.

Cons:

  • Doesn't have the aesthetics of a jewelry box.
