Documentary Films

Humans are interesting. We are a complex and diverse species. Our ability to think and reason and communicate far surpasses any other species. Thus, I will be so bold as to say that the most interesting stories are those of human nature. Ones that show real people being real people interacting with other real people. Friendships. Hardships. Relationships. Real people's stories, I believe, are best told in documentaries. Not to say that fictitious movies or even movies based on facts can't portray human beings correctly, they absolutely can and very well in fact, but it's not the same. There is something about actually watching Muhammad Ali be Muhammad Ali  rather than Will Smith play Muhammad Ali

And just like Dramas and Comedies have sub-genres (e.g., romantic comedies, film noir dramas), so does the wide world of Documentaries. From sports to music, from analytical to political, there are several documentary sub-genres to choose from. Take a look at this guide to help you find what you're looking for.
