Very interesting caste iron head of a Buddha. We believe that this Buddha dates to the late 18th or early 19th c. It retains its original patina which is complex and layered and appropriate for the type of patina to be expected of an item of this age. Judging from the Persian-influenced scrolling of the hair, this Buddha appears to have originated in India. The Buddha comes with a custom mahogany stand that appears to have been made in the mid 20th c. We have not had this item professionally appraised...
