This is a new model from Miraphone. It's a larger 3/4 size BBb tuba, which we might even refer to as a 7/8 tuba, since it has such a big sound for a compact horn. This is a much more nimble instrument than the larger 186, and still has a broad sound and a very decent low range. When Brad Stubbs was asked to play on a children’s stage at a music festival, he agreed to perform even though he really didn’t know many children’s tunes. Fanfare on a Sixteenth Century Tune was commissioned by the Newbury Spring Festival in its 21st year. The first performance was given by the Wallace Collection at Douai Abbey in May 1999.
